With Cristiano Ronaldo previously linked with Bayern Munich, Sadio Mane has revealed what the Portuguese forward told him in a private chat after he joined the Bundesliga champions last year.
Official: Ronaldo Wins First Award In Saudi Arabia
Following a successful six-year stay at Liverpool, the Senegalese winger decided to take on a new challenge when he completed a switch to the Bavarians.
In England, Mane won every trophy available to him over six seasons, including the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League titles.
Although he has suffered an injury-stricken debut campaign in Germany, the African superstar believes a certain conversation he had with Ronaldo in 2022 proves just how underestimated the Bundesliga is.
"That says everything about the Bundesliga and underlines what I've already said: I think you underestimate the Bundesliga here," he told BILD Sport.
"The recent performances in the Champions League prove that.
"I met Cristiano Ronaldo in Mallorca before this season after my move was completed.
"He congratulated me and told me: 'A great club. This is a great step for you.'"

Mane recently returned to action for Bayern after recovering from a leg injury that forced him to miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, was heavily linked with a switch to the German giants but a move did not materialise after the Bundesliga club decided against pursuing a deal for the then-Manchester United No. 7.
