Zwane Weighs In On Casric Stars: That Alone Tells You

Zwane Weighs In On Casric Stars: That Alone Tells You

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has pointed out what makes Casric Stars a threat to their Nedbank Cup ambitions.

Chiefs progressed to the round of 16 of the Nedbank Cup for the first time in three years after needing extra-time to beat ten-man Maritzburg United 2-0.

The Nedbank Cup has been a tricky tournament for Amakhosi, especially when it comes to playing against lower league opposition, as they were knocked out in the first round for back-to-back seasons by Richards Bay (who were campaigning in the Motsepe Foundation Championship) and TS Galaxy.

The Glamour Boys have now been paired against Casric Stars, who bought the National First Division status of Free State Stars at the beginning of the season, renamed and relocated the team to Mpumalanga.

Casric been doing well and are currently top of the table in the Championship and Zwane says that's what will make them a difficult team to beat.

"Ja, look it's an interesting one but very good for football. I think Nedbank is giving everyone an opportunity for teams from the lower division, talented players as well to be seen and spotted by big teams," Zwane told journalists at the club's Open Media Day.

"Which is great for the country and the league as well. Ja it's gonna be a very difficult game for us, because I think they are number one (on the log). That alone tells you, they are not there by mistake.

"Yes, people, they might see it as a team easy to beat, we're gonna have to dig deep again because they've got hard runners. When you look at their team, very difficult to play against," he said.

"So apart from the players that we loaned to them you know, we're not gonna take them for granted, we're gonna go out there and show our superiority," he added.

Chiefs have striker Keletso Sifama on loan at Casric after his previous loan spell at another second-tier side Pretoria Callies last season.
