With the FIFA Club World Cup (CWC) on the horizon, reports suggest that Al Ahly are desperately looking to bring in a former Premier League forward to partner the likes of Percy Tau and Mohamed Sherif.

According to Sporx, Al Ahly are now keen on acquiring the services of Tanzania international Mbwana Samatta.
The 30-year-old, who is currently on loan at Belgian side Genk, is out of favour at parent club Fenerbahce, with the Turkish giants looking to offload the forward.
The former Aston Villa man is reportedly valued at €2.5 million (R46.8 million) and with his contract coming to an end in Turkey at the end of the 2023/24 season, the Red Devils are said to see his signing as a feasible investment in their squad ahead of their travels to Morocco, where the CWC will take place.
Ambitions to sign Samatta arose after the record Egyptian champions failed to lure Jackson Muleka away from Besiktas. The Turkish outfit had deemed Al Ahly's bid for the Congolese marksman too low, with the Egyptian side now shifting their focus to the Dar es Salam native.
Marcel Koller's Red Devils have enjoyed a good start to the Egyptian Premier League season as they sit at the top of the standings with zero defeats to their name after 14 matches.

They will be hoping to replicate their league form at the Club World Cup, and with Tau still injured, the Swiss tactician will be hoping Samatta can help Sherif and Kahraba bag the goals should a deal be successfully completed.
