FIFA 23 Team of the Year Nominees Released

The FIFA 23 Team of the Year FUT event is nearing closer and EA Sports has dropped a list over 100 players that have been nominated.

What's the story?

The FIFA 23 Team of the Year (TOTY) event is edging closer, with EA Sports releasing a strong list of 100 nominees for the final FUT TOTY squad.

The TOTY event will include the best-performing players from 2022 calendar year and each item receives a boost for their overall statistics.

Let's take a closer look at the players nominated for this exciting FUT event. 

#TOTY

The TOTY is set to be the first major event on the FUT calendar for 2023 and fans get to choose from a list of a 100 world class ballers to vote for, starting 10 January. 

Names such as Balon d'Or winner Karim Benzema, Kevin De Bruyne and Achraf Hakimi lead the Attackers, Midfielders and Defenders list.

PSG's trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr and FIFA 23 cover star Kylian Mbappe are all unsurprisingly added to the nominees list, with former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo missing out.

English Premier League giants Manchester City and Real Madrid have the most players nominated with 8 each and both team have this season's signings included on the list - City with Erling Haaland and Madrid with Aurelian Tchouameni. 

In terms of African stars, Nigeria and Napoli's Victor Osimhen made it on the nominees list, and is joined by Morocco's World Cup star Sofyan Amrabat, Ivory Coast and Lens' Seko Fofana, Bayern Munich and Senegal's Sadio Mane is joined by fellow countrymen Kalidou Koulibaly and Moroccan keep Yassine Bounou (Bono). 

Talented youngsters such as Jamal Musiala, who had a breakthrough 2022 with Bayern Munich isn't on the list, as well as Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford.
