Ronaldinho Answers Big Messi Best-Of-All-Time Question

Ronaldinho Answers Big Messi Best-Of-All-Time Question

Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho

Ex-Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho has revealed whether or not he believes his former teammate Lionel Messi is the best player of all time.

The Nine Contract Demands Messi Made To Barca Revealed

Upon accepting the 2005 Ballon d'Or award, the Brazil legend famously said he was not even the best player at the Catalan club, suggesting a young Messi was already levels above him.

Ronaldinho was among the more senior players in the dressing room when the Argentine burst on to the scene in Spain, and became a mentor for the young South American who began training with the Blaugrana first-team squad as a teenager.

Although he has regularly praised Messi over the years, though, Ronaldinho believes it would perhaps be unfair to label the Paris Saint-Germain forward as the greatest player in history.

"It is difficult to say, there are so many other players," he told Eleven Sports.

"I don't like to compare. You had [Diego] Maradona, Pele, there were so many.

"Every one of them was the best in their own time."

Despite their close relationship, it is widely believed Barcelona sold Ronaldinho in 2008 to help protect Messi from becoming distracted in his career.

Pep Guardiola ultimately made the decision to let go of the two-time World Player of the Year after the 2002 FIFA World Cup winner had been accused of enjoying life outside of football more so than he should have.

Ronaldinho joined AC Milan after representing the Spanish giants on 207 occasions, during which he contributed to an impressive 160 goals and claimed five trophies.
