Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane says the Macufe Cup was a good exercise to get the players on par with the rest  of the first team regulars.

Edmilson Dove was the only player to retain his spot in the side from the win over SuperSport, as the coach gave minutes to a number of players, including Erick Mathoho.

The Chiefs tactician was pleased the players could get minutes under their belt, but felt they could have done better in the final third.

"Ja you know penalties are a lottery but ja I think it was a good exercise for our boys for the fact that we also came back from a goal down," Zwane told SABC Sport after the match.

"I still believe we could have done better in terms of the few goal-scoring opportunities that we created but having said what we're happy about is giving other players an opportunity.

"More than winning the game because it's more like a friendly game, though every game we play, we play to win. I cannot faulter the effort of the boys, they've done very well but they could've done better," he said.

When asked if he was happy with the performance, Zwane added, "Yes, individual performance, we're trying to put mileage out there, we're trying to help the boys to be on par with the rest of the boys that have been playing regularly. So that was the whole exercise today.
