The Betway Premiership took centre stage this past weekend with Magesi FC continuing with their sterling form as they beat TS Galaxy 2-1 at Seshego Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Having already secured the Coach (Owen Da Gama) and Player (Elvis Chipezeze) of the Month awards, the Carling Knockout Champions were looking to climb their way up the log standings, trying to move away from any potential relegation threat. Coach ODG’s charges are now sitting 11th with 29 points from 25 games, almost certain of retaining their status in their first season in the elite league. Goals from Delano Abrahams and John Mokone proved enough to secure maximum points for Magesi while Kamogelo Sebelebele scored the consolation goal for the visitors.

Chippa United hosted Kaizer Chiefs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, with coach Nasreddine Nabi looking to take from where his team had left off before this clash. Amakhsi came into this match on the back of a massive come-from-behind 2-1 Nedbank Cup semi-finals win away to Mamelodi Sundowns, to set up a much-anticipated Soweto derby final against arc-rivals, Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium on May 10. However, coach Thabo September and his team had other ideas, as they were looking to take maximum points to cement their spot in the Top Eight. Unfortunately, despite creating chances, both teams failed to find the back of the net to excite the big crowd that came out to witness the clash.

Sekhukhune United continued with their rich vein of form when they Polokwane City 2-0 at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. Elias Rammala took the lead for coach Eric Tinkler’s team in the 36th minute before Daniel Cardoso made it 2-0 in the 79th minute.
