These Are Set To Be The Opening 2016/17 Absa Premiership Fixtures

With the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season upon us, the Siya crew has got hold of the provisional fixture list for the new campaign. Read: Bucs Reveal Fixtures Orlando Pirates went ahead and announced a number of their own fixtures yesterday despite the lack of official announcement from the PSL, with their season getting underway against Golden Arrows on August 24th. The league will be starting later that usual, and will not begin with the MTN8, due to the Olympic Games taking place in Rio de Janeiro, and is also set to end later than previous seasons too. At present the fixtures are under review by the teams, but as things stand the opening week will look like this: August 23rd - Bidvest Wits v Kaizer Chiefs Bloemfontein Celtic v Maritzburg United Baroka FC v Ajax Cape Town Cape Town City v Polokwane City August 24th – Platinum Stars v SuperSport United Chippa United v Free State Stars (Subject to takeover) Orlando Pirates v Golden Arrows Meanwhile, due to their participation in the CAF Champions League group stages, Mamelodi Sundowns will only play their first league game on September 14th when they travel to Maritzburg United.
