Thamsanqa Mkhize's Failed Orlando Pirates Move May Have Worked In His Favour

Thamsanqa Mkhize's Failed Orlando Pirates Move May Have Worked In His Favour
Thamsanqa Mkhize nearly signed for Orlando Pirates earlier this year, but he may be feeling lucky that he didn't given the success of the side he did join.   Read: SA Clubs Keen On Pirates Midfielder   While there were never reasons given for why the 28-year-old's move to the Buccaneers never happened, having won the Telkom Knockout with Cape Town City and helped them climb to the top of the Absa Premiership, he will be thanking his lucky stars at this stage.   City are now six points and six places above Pirates in the league, and while they are nowhere near the stature of Bucs, City will certainly be the happier of the two teams going into the African Cup of Nations break.   "I'm absolutely thrilled for Thami's sake. He unfortunately was made certain promises by another agent and those promises didn't come to fruition.   Mike Makaab, the player's representative, spoke of his delight after the player returned to Prosport International ahead of joining City, telling the Siya crew in this week's Soccer Laduma, "I'm delighted that he elected to get back with us and thrilled that his move to Cape Town City has worked so well. It's strange how football works – six months later he's a cup final winner and top of league."   Meanwhile, Makaab also had a message for footballers everywhere, saying, "I just want to remind players to ensure that they appoint people to take care of their career who actually have their best interests at heart and want to follow through on promises that are made."
