The striker picked up a late yellow card in the 2-0 win over SuperSport United before the international break, his fourth of the season, meaning that he now faces a one-game ban.
While the 27-year-old was unlikely to start against Tuks, Chiefs' head coach Stuart Baxter is now faced with a dilemma as to who can take his place on the bench, with Katlego Mphela having recently been ruled out for three months due to injury.
Mthembu, who has only played 154 minutes of football for the Amakhosi this season, is averaging a yellow card every 38 minutes, a record he will need to change if he wants to play a big role in Baxter's side this campaign.
