While the leading goal scorer in the PSL is on seven goals at the moment, the highest scorer in the NFD has netted nine times thus far.
Puleng Tlolane of Polokwane City is the PSL's leading goal scorer with seven strikes.
Tlolane is closely followed by Ndumiso Mabena and Moeketsi Sekola in the goal scoring charts, with the two strikers tied at six goals each.
The strikers with impressive numbers in the goal scoring charts this season come from the second tier of South African football.
Phumelele Bhengu of Thanda Royal Zulu has already scored nine times, while Siphelele Ntshangase of Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos' Charlton Mashumba have scored eight goals each for their teams in the current campaign.
Ezenkosi's Brice Aka is on seven goals with Tebogo Masaole and Gift Motupa on five goals each. Masaole is an Orlando Pirates player on loan at Golden Arrows, while Motupa is playing for Baroka FC.
It should be noted that no NFD side has played more than 14 games so far this season, while Chiefs, Bidvest Wits and Ajax Cape Town have already played 15 games in the PSL.
The majority of the other PSL teams have played 14, while it is only Platinum Stars and AmaZulu that have played 13 games each.
Some of the NFD players have been linked with moves to PSL clubs.
Ntshangase and Motupa have been on the radar of PSL sides, including the big guns in Mamelodi Sundowns and Pirates.
The players can look at the success story of David Zulu and hope to emulate the 28-year-old in the near future.
Zulu, who played for Leopards in the NFD last season, has been an integral member of Bafana Bafana under Shakes Mashaba this year.
Zulu is currently on five goals with Chippa United this season. He is expected to make a switch to Kaizer Chiefs in January, after the Soweto giants and Port Elizabeth-based outfit agreed on a move for him earlier this season.
The Siya crew will keep you posted on the players that PSL clubs will be trying to sign when the transfer windows opens in a few weeks' time.
