The Buccaneers have announced on the club's official website that the tournament is set to take place over two days, from 6-7 August in Namibia.

"With two matches left till the end of the season most PSL teams are already hard (at) work planning their respective pre-season campaigns. Orlando Pirates is no exception as they have committed to playing in the prestigious Dr. Hage Geingob Cup scheduled to take place over two days from 06 – 07 August 2016 in Windhoek, Namibia. The cup is named after the Namibian State president Dr. Geingob, who is also the patron of the competition," Bucs stated.

Club Administrator, Mr. Floyd Mbele who represented the Buccaneers at the launch of the cup in Windhoek yesterday expressed his delight at the prospect of partaking in such a highly competitive event prior to the start of the upcoming 2016 /2017 Season.

"We accepted the invitation to play in this four team tournament involving two South African sides in the form of Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns who are coincidentally the two time defending champions of the Cup, said Mbele.

Mbele further elaborated on the format of the competition adding that, "The two SA sides will face off against Namibian opposition in the form of the local Premier League Champions, Tigers FC and a fourth side to be decided from a pool of 15 Namibian Premier Division teams via a national campaign where the Namibian public will be afforded an opportunity to vote in the 4th team via a sms voting system."
