Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to book a spot in the Nedbank Cup last 16 when they host Sibanye Golden Stars on Saturday evening at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Nedbank Cup

Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v Golden Stars

Date: 25 January 2025

Venue: Loftus Versfeld Stadium

Time: 18h00

Sundowns won their sixth game in a row in the league and extended their lead at the top of the standings to six points after they came from behind to beat Magesi 2-1 in midweek.

Wonderboy Makhubo gave Dikwena an early lead but goals by Lucas Ribeiro Costa and Tashreeq Matthews in the second stanza secured the win for Masandawana.

The Tshwane giants will be without Divine Lunga, who was red-carded against Magesi and Costa, who got his fourth booking, due to suspensions.

Sundowns went all the way to the final last season but lost 2-1 to Orlando Pirates.

Sibanye, meanwhile, hail from the Free State ABC Motsepe League and will be looking to cause an upset.

Golden Stars are placed seventh in Group 1B stream with five points, although they have two games in hand.

Stars made it to the round of 32 for the first time in 2016 but they were hammered 4-0 by Mbombela United.

Here's how they line up:
