Marumo Gallants Confirm Departure of five stars, welcome six more

In what is one of the worst kept secrets in local football, Marumo Gallants have confirmed the departure of five players, while welcoming six new faces.

Gallants will undertake their second season in the DStv Premiership without the services of five players who helped them maintain their top-flight status.

On Thursday the club confirmed on its official social media channels that it had parted ways with Thabo Rakhale, Mokgakalodi Ngele, Tokelo Rantie, Nicholus Lukhubeni and Diamond Thopola.

As reported by the Siya crew, both Rakhale and Lukhubeni have since been snapped up by PSL newbies Sekhukhune United.

The likes of Thopola, Ngele and Rantie will now be on the lookout for new clubs as free agents in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, the club has also confirmed the addition of five players for the 2021/22 season in the form of Sibusiso Khumalo, Katlego Otladisa, Thato Kiba, Sibusiso Nkosi, Matome Kgoetyane and Brandon Makgopa.

In addition, the crew also reported in edition 1231 of Soccer Laduma that Gallants made an approach for former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt; however, the 56-year-old turned down the advances of the Polokwane-based outfit in favour of a move to Chippa United, where he was unveiled on Wednesday.

Gallants head coach Dylan Kerr is still in the picture, but his future looks uncertain following their less than satisfactory offer made to the man who saved their top-flight season and won the club their first-ever trophy.
