Chiefs returned to winning ways in the Absa Premiership with a 1-0 victory over Platinum Stars, thanks to Siphiwe Tshabalala's second-half header.
"We finished the second half very well with great energy. I was asking them in the dressing room, is the field heavy or was the grass holding the ball because we couldn't just flow," Komphela told SuperSport after the game.
"I thought the energy brought on by [Bernard] Parker and Shabba [Siphiwe Tshabalala] was clear. Everyone should learn that when you're at Chiefs, everyone [the opposition] brings their own A-plus game.
"Before I was coaching Chiefs and when I was coaching elsewhere, even as a player when we were facing Chiefs, I was high on concentration levels.
"If you face an enemy that is well prepared, you're going to suffer. So sometimes we tend not to realise that we're at Chiefs, challenges are immense. You need to rise above and deal with it, I think that's what we are missing. But we will get there."
