On Tuesday morning, at an official press conference held at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena, the Amakhosi confirmed that both the head coach, Baxter, and striker Mphela would be parting ways with the team for the 2015/16 season.
The Siya crew reported last Sunday that Chiefs were ready to release Mphela, despite the 30-year-old still having two more years left to run on his existing contract with the club.
As predicted, the club announced his release and in this week's edition of Soccer Laduma, issue 924, the former Mamelodi Sundowns and South African international spoke highly of the Englishman.
Mphela said, "I had played for Stuart Baxter before but at national level with Bafana Bafana. He is very different from the other coaches in terms of coaching and conducting himself. He is a master tactician.
"If you look at the players at Chiefs, they are just as good as the players in the other teams, but it's his tactics and techniques which make Chiefs play differently from other teams.
"He has a different way of attending or approaching the players which makes the players play for him and the team.
"He is not as talkative as the other coaches I have played under. He talks positively to the players for them to perform to their greatest ability. He is a great tactician."
