The insiders added that Chiefs are set to add another year to Castillo's contract to prevent losing him for free if Zamalek proceed with their interest.
"After the injury the team was skeptical to renew the deal though he had a one-year option on his contract. But with interest from other clubs, the team has realised that they could lose him for free which doesn't sit well with them and that's why they are believed to have exercised the one-year option plus another year so that whatever happens they have control over his move. The new deal is expected to run until June 2027 if they add the other year after the option. They did this to make sure they cash in on their investment in the player, which they think is the right thing to do as they have invested in him as a player during the two years that he has been at the club," the Siya source stated.
