In This Week’s Edition Of Soccer Laduma

In anticipation of this week's 1412th edition of Soccer Laduma, we preview some of the features included. The latest edition will be available at your nearest outlet on Thursday, 20th February 2025.

MONNAPULE SALENG

After a promising start to the season, Monnapule Saleng is in limbo at Orlando Pirates, and the saga seems to have caught the attention of South African football followers. Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has had to manage without one of his most influential players during such an important time for the Buccaneers. It seems as if the situation, if social media is anything to go by, has created a rift between the club and the player. Soccer Laduma looks into the matter and talks to individuals regarding what the former Free State Stars player is going through.

LUCAS RIBEIRO COSTA

Lucas Ribeiro Costa has been, without a doubt, one of the most talked about players in the PSL this season. If it's not the talk about him possibly winning the Footballer of the Season award, then it's the whole debate about whether he should play for Bafana Bafana. One thing's for sure, Ribeiro is in the form of his life and he will definitely have a big say if Sundowns go on to win the Betway Premiership or CAF Champions League. Soccer Laduma takes a look at the impact of Ribeiro at Sundowns, speaking to different individuals about the Brazilian attacker, and looks at other South American players who have done well for the Tshwane giants.

SIYA SPECIAL

Kaizer Chiefs right-back Reeve Frosler delivered a man-of-the-match performance when his side defeated Chippa United 3-0 in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 at FNB Stadium last weekend. The 27-year-old joined Amakhosi from Bidvest Wits in February 2019, and his time in Naturena has been marked by consistency and hard work. However, with his contract set to expire in June 2025, the defender finds himself in an uncertain position. Chiefs' reluctance to secure his future has prompted interest from rivals such as Cape Town City and Sekhukhune United. Frosler remains focused on his role, but as the clock ticks down, his future is far from decided.

Also In Issue 1412…

Edwin Gyimah

Since parting ways with Sekhukhune United at the end of last season, Edwin Gyimah has been struggling to find a new club. The experienced Ghanaian believes he is being deliberately targeted. Gyimah suspects that certain individuals are spreading damaging rumours about him, suggesting that he is difficult to work with. In this exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, the 33-year-old opens up about the emotional and financial toll of his current situation.

International Feature

The CAF Champions League is approaching its business end as the clubs that have successfully navigated their way to the quarter-finals will find out their fate for the remainder of the competition during the tournament draw on 20 February 2025. The remaining eight teams have tremendous pedigree within their respective leagues, but now they must test themselves at the highest level on the continental stage. Soccer Laduma takes an in-depth look at the clubs still in the tournament and examines which of them stand the best chance of going all the way.

Revolving Column

This week we hear from the founder of Keep Active Sport Development Academy, Lwazi Sahula on the Gothia Cup tournament in Sweden.

Siyagobhoza

In this week's edition of the popular Siyagobhoza section, Monnapule Saleng's Orlando Pirates future remains intact, is there a Chippa United exit for Andile Jali and Chiefs maintain a sell-on clause on Thatayaone Ditlhokwe's contract.
