SOWETO DERBY PREVIEW
On Saturday at 15h00, we get to enjoy a third Soweto Derby in the last 12 months. However, the match feels like something of a curtain-raiser for the Nedbank Cup final between these clubs on 10 May at Moses Mabhida Stadium. So, what can we look forward to on 3 May? Will the clubs be less cagey and more expansive in their style of play? Can Chiefs end a four-match losing streak against their heated rivals? Will both coaches change up their tactics and personnel to keep some tricks up their sleeves for the cup final? Soccer Laduma investigates.
LEHLOHONOLO SEEMA
The sacking of Lehlohonolo Seema as Sekhukhune United coach in March came as a shock after he helped the club move within touching distance of another CAF Confederation Cup qualification spot. This was for the second year running that Sekhukhune had roped in Seema while battling to grind results. To this day, it remains unclear as to why Sekhukhune gave Seema the boot despite the team flying high under his tutelage. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, Seema sheds light on his controversial departure from the club, which has seen Eric Tinkler appointed as the replacement.
SIYA SPECIAL
The qualification of three Betway Premiership clubs to the semi-finals of CAF Inter-club competitions this season is a clear indication of the growing strength of the South African league. Betway Premiership clubs are paid R2.5 million grants every month to assist with their day-to-day operational expenses. But the cherry on top has been the increase in prize money to R20 million for the champions. This far outstrips prize money offered in Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Nigeria or Algeria, making the Betway Premiership the most lucrative league in Africa. As a result, it attracts players from across the African continent as well as South and North America. We break down what makes the domestic league so unique.

Farook Kadodia
Durban City FC, under the guidance of chairman Farook Kadodia, has led the Motsepe Foundation Championship and now stands just two victories away from automatic promotion. But their impressive campaign has been struck by tragedy – the heartbreaking passing of midfielder Sinamandla Zondi, who collapsed during warm-up last week. Despite the emotional turmoil, Durban City showed immense character to defeat Pretoria Callies 3-0 last Friday and move three points clear at the top of the table with four games to play. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, Kadodia opens up about the devastating loss of Zondi, the decision to continue playing in his honour, and the challenges the club has faced both on and off the pitch.
International Feature
Philadelphia Union defender Olwethu Makhanya hit the headlines recently when he stood his ground against multiple FIFA Player of the Year winner Lionel Messi and refused to be intimidated by the global superstar in a scuffle that went viral. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, he reveals what went down in that game against Inter Miami, the influence of fellow South African coach Bradley Carnell, his relationship with his previous coach and what happened recently when he received a red card against Nashville SC.
