New Faces In Broos’ Prelim Bafana Squad For World Cup Qualifiers

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has announced a 37-man preliminary squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin later this month.

The crucial fixtures are set to take place between 17-26 March 2025 as South Africa continues its quest for a spot in the global showpiece.

Broos has included several in-form players in his selection, with Orlando Pirates duo Deano van Rooyen and Tshegofatso Mabasa earning well-deserved call-ups following their impressive performances.

Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley has also been named in the squad, adding depth to the defensive options.

Mamelodi Sundowns' midfielders Jayden Adams and Bathusi Aubaas have also made the cut, further strengthening the team's spine.

Samukelo Kabini and Kulumani Ndamane, who have both been impressive for TS Galaxy, have also been recognised by being selected to the team.

The selection highlights Broos' intent to blend experienced campaigners with fresh talent as he looks to fine-tune his squad for the qualifiers.

With just weeks to go before the matches, the Belgian tactician will soon trim the squad to a final selection, ensuring that Bafana fields a competitive team.
