DStv Premiership Report: Cape Town City v Bloemfontein Celtic 22 November 2020

Result: Cape Town City 4-2 Bloemfontein Celtic

Date: 22 November 2020

Venue: Cape Town Stadium

Cape Town City got back to winning ways in the DStv Premiership with an impressive 4-2 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Citizens nearly got an early goal through Fagrie Lakay, who rattled the frame of the goal with a stinging effort from distance.

City were not to be denied six minutes later as Mduduzi Mdantsane registered his third goal of the season with a neat finish from close range.

While Celtic were struggling to carve out chances at the other end, the Citizens were awarded a penalty in the 38th minute for a foul on Lakay, who dusted himself off and made no mistake from 12 yards out to double the home side's lead.

With two minutes to play in the half, Celtic did manage to pull a goal back through Ndumiso Mabena, who converted a penalty after a foul from Taariq Fielies.

There was enough time for the hosts to bag a third goal as Thabo Nodada got on the scoresheet with an impressive strike from distance.

The second half was a contrast to the first, as the tempo had slowed down with Jan Olde Riekerink's charges in full control in the early stages.

Celtic managed to reduce the deficit for a second time in the 68th minute, with Menzi Masuku firing past Peter Leeuwenburgh to set up a nervy final 20 minutes for the hosts.

However, City wrapped up the victory two minutes later as Nodada bagged his second goal of the day with a neat header from close range.
