Big PSL Move Beckons? Opoku’s Scorching Form Turns Heads Again

With the 2024/25 season drawing to a close, Ghanaian striker Kwame Opoku is continuing to make a strong case for a high-profile move, as his South African-based representatives intensify efforts to secure him a deal in the Betway Premiership ahead of the new campaign.

According to sources close to the player, fruitful meetings are being pursued with clubs in Mzansi’s top-flight, with the aim of securing a potential transfer for the Asante Kotoko star.

Opoku’s on-field exploits are certainly doing the talking. Over the weekend, the 26-year-old delivered a standout performance, netting a brace in Asante Kotoko’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The performance has once again drawn attention to his consistent goal-scoring prowess, which could accelerate talks behind the scenes.

A Siya source confirmed that Opoku’s camp is pushing for a breakthrough.

“There are a few meetings lined up in South Africa. The player is being monitored, and his form is not going unnoticed. A move to the Betway Premiership is a real possibility if things go well,” the source revealed.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, Opoku has been linked with a potential offer to PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

While no formal offer has been tabled yet, the player’s recent performances could reignite interest among the big guns in Mzansi.

The striker’s previous stint in North Africa with USM Alger gave him exposure to continental football, and his return to Ghana has seen him rediscover his confidence in front of goal. With the transfer window looming, Opoku’s name is expected to resurface in several scouting reports as clubs prepare their recruitment lists.

Whether a blockbuster move to the PSL materialises remains to be seen, but what’s clear is that Opoku is doing his part to stay in the spotlight – and that spotlight might just be shining from Mzansi.
