Absa Premiership Report: SuperSport United 6-1 Orlando Pirates 1 November 2016
Absa Premiership   Result: SuperSport United 6-1 Orlando Pirates   Date: 1 November 2016   Venue: Mbombela Stadium   A clinical SuperSport United punished Orlando Pirates 6-1 in their Absa Premiership clash on Tuesday night.   View The PSL Table   The game was off to a frenetic start as the hosts won two early corner kicks. The first resulted in Morgan Gould being afforded a free header, but he directed it wide.   A long throw from United almost created problems for Bucs as Boxall picked out Bradley Grobler, but his shot was smothered by Brighton Mhlongo.   At the other end of the pitch the Buccaneers had a chance of their own as Thabo Rakhale showed off his footwork on the left to set up Mpho Makola, but his shot from a tight angle was kept out.   Shortly before the break, Pirates opened their account as Tendai Ndoro bundled the ball into the back of the net after a first-time cross from Rakhale on the right.
Pirates looked comfortable as the second half got underway, but madness ensued as SuperSport scored four goals in 11 minutes to bury their visitors.   The equaliser arrived in the 52nd minute when Reinelwe Letsholonyane smashed a shot past Mhlongo and into the back of the net from a tight angle, beating him at his near post.   Two minutes later Yeye was involved again, turning provider as he drilled a cross towards Boxall who directed it home from close range.   In the 56th minute a mistake from Mhlongo gifted United their third. A free kick was palmed by the goalkeeper straight into a group of SuperSport players, resulting in Boxall bundling home his second.   Shortly after the hour mark a fourth goal arrived for the hosts. Mhlongo opted to punch a ball he should have caught and saw Thuso Phala pounce on it, firing it into the back of the net with power.   The Pirates defence was all over the place and let in yet another goal in the 74th minute. Phala picked out Grobler with a cross from the right and the latter headed it beyond Mhlongo for 5-1.

More misery was piled on Pirates in the 88th minute when Mhlongo gave away a penalty which Jeremy Brockie slotted to cap off the win.   It seemed as though the Bucs would find a consolation goal when Michael Morton gave away a penalty of his own, but Ndoro's spot-kick was kept out by Ronwen Williams to bring the game to a close.
