Absa Premiership
Half Time: Golden Arrows 3-1 Kaizer Chiefs
Date: 24 April 2018
Venue: Princess Magogo Stadium
A brace from Lerato Lamola guided Golden Arrows to a 3-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership match at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Tuesday night.
It was the dream start for the home team, who took the lead after only four minutes when Lamola drove into the box from the right before cutting inside and chipping Itumeleng Khune from 10-yards out, 1-0.
Ten minutes later, things went from bad to worse for Chiefs when they were reduced to 10 men following a straight red card for Leonardo Castro after a studs-up tackle on Trevor Mathiane.
In the 20th minute, Lamola should have made it two when he latched onto a ball over the top and rounded the keeper, but his 14-yard effort went over the target.
Two minutes later, Chiefs had their first sight of goal when Bernard Parker met a left-wing cross from George Maluleka, but his eight-yard header went inches wide.
The next effort on goal came in the 40th minute when Limbikani Mzava found Velemseni Ndwandwe inside the box with a right-wing cross, but the latter volleyed wide of the Chiefs goal from six-yards out.
Two minutes before the break, Chiefs managed to find the equaliser after a great pass from Joseph Molangoane set Parker through on goal and he made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 1-1.
Three minutes into the second half, Arrows scored their second goal when Danny Venter drove into the box from the left and squared for Lamola to poke home from close range, 2-1.
The next effort on goal only came in the 65th minute when a Siphiwe Tshabalala free-kick was well-saved by the Arrows keeper.
Chiefs continued to push for an equaliser and came close in the 80th minute when Maluleka beat the keeper, but saw his 16-yard effort cleared off the goalline by an Arrows defender.
Amakhosi threw players forward in the final 10 minutes but left themselves exposed at the back and Arrows took advantage with Ndwandwe scoring on the counter-attack in the 94th minute, 3-1.
