Former Skippers To Lead Birds Against Chiefs?
Following the sudden and unexpected resignation of Moroka Swallows coach Fani Madida, indications are that former club captains, Goodman Mazibuko and Patrick Mabedi are expected to take over the reigns at the beleaguered club in the interim.
Since the news of Madida’s resignation broke on Monday night, the Siya crew understands that a few names are already in the running to land the vacant role at the Soweto club, this despite Birds CEO, Leon Prins confirming with the crew that the club has not officially spoken nor approached anyone for the role.
Mazibuko was roped in from the club’s youth structures to assist Madida earlier.
Mushin Ertugral, who has been linked with the Birds’coaching job since Zeca Marques’ final days at the club, has emerged as a strong runner among the names which also includes Ian Palmer, former Free State Stars coach, Thomas Saintfiet and ex-AmaZulu mentor, Craig Rosslee.
With only seven league games remaining in the campaign, with Kaizer Chiefs being the next big test, both Mabedi and Mazibuko will be expected to lead the Dube Birds' technical bench.
