George Maluleka’s representative, Glyn Binkin, has confirmed that there is ‘substantial interest’ in the midfielder, saying he wouldn’t be surprised if he moved on.
The SuperSport United man has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns both known to be extremely keen on landing the 24-year-old, with a possible swap deal involving Lehlohonolo Majoro said to be on the cards.
Now, speaking to the Siya crew, Binkin has confirmed that there is huge interest in the player.
He said, “There has been some substantial interest in George both locally and from abroad. However, at this stage George is still contracted to SuperSport United until 30 June 2015, so any club interested in acquiring his services will need to engage in discussion with Supersport.
“Given the interest that there is, I would not be surprised if George does move in January, although time will tell.”
It remains to be seen where Maluleka’s future lies, although it seems that there is a high chance that he may not be with Matsatsantsa when the PSL resumes later next month.
With two years still remaining on the midfielder's current deal, one certainty is that SuperSport would not be able to let Maluleka leave without substantial compensation coming their way.
