Amajimbos striker, Khanyisa Mayo who is the son of former Kaizer Chiefs striker, Patrick Mayo is confident ahead of the U17’s second fixture in the African Youth Championships against Mali on Thursday.
Mayo who is currently Amajimbos’ top goal scorer believes the side has learnt from their mistakes in the opener against Ivory Coast were they relinquished a two-goal lead, and believes they can do better against the Malians.
“Well we always knew that they are a good side, they are the current title holders and we should have held our own but these things do happen in football, we had a lapse in concentration and they managed to score two very simple goals,” Mayo tells the South African Football Association website.
“We have learnt that we need to take responsibility for our actions and to win matches means to stay concentrated throughout the match.”
“We believe we are a good side. We believe we have what it takes to go far in this tournament, we would like the supporters to keep supporting us as this means a lot to us, their support gives us the edge we need.
"We will go out against Mali and give it our all as we know the mission at hand,” he concludes.
