SuperSport United are looking to finalise a new deal for the defender, Michael Boxall, to avoid him moving on from the club at the end of the current season.
Boxall has been almost ever-present for Matsatsantsa this season and at this point has missed just six of their 58 Absa Premiership games that have been played since his arrival in South Africa in 2015.
The 28-year-old will see his current contract in Tshwane come to an end in a few weeks’ time and as things stand, could be a free agent come the start of July.
Having been a regular under both Gordon Igesund and Stuart Baxter, the Siya crew has been informed that SuperSport do want to keep the Kiwi on board and as reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, are in talks to ensure that it happens.
There is an added rush for the club in terms of tying him down, however, with the fact that he will leave for the Confederations Cup in Russia if, as expected, he is selected for the All Whites side.
The crew will keep track of the player’s movements in the comings weeks to see if there’s any movement on his contractual situation.
