It seems the Premier Soccer League is not the only entity displeased with the AFL match schedule as Ahly's Swiss manager has expressed his discontent with the fixture congestion the tournament is causing for his side.
Many of the playing squad for the Club of the Century are internationals for their respective nations, and with their first encounter within CAF and FIFA's newest creation set to begin on 20 October, mere days after the conclusion of the upcoming international break, the 62-year-old has insisted he cannot guarantee he will have a fully-fit squad for their opening match against Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
"The dates of the African Football League fixtures are not suitable. The international players, whether Egyptians or other nationality, will suffer because of the dense schedule," he told the club's official TV channel.
"They did not consider the hard travelling circumstances that face the international players as moving inside Africa takes long hours.
"I cannot judge if my international players would be fit for the Simba game when they join my team after finishing the international camp."
