The name Njabulo Ngcobo has been one of the most talked-about names in South African football at the moment, given that he is yet to make a competitive appearance for Kaizer Chiefs this season.
What's the story?
Despite being in the national team fold, Ngcobo is yet to feature for Amakhosi this season, which caused a major debate among supporters on social media this season.
The former Swallows FC star is the reigning PSL defender of the season, warranted a call up to the Bafana Bafana squad and featured in the COSAFA Cup, as well as the recent FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Adding to the debates was that of coach Stuart Baxter recently saying that Ngcobo's Bafana inclusion does not give him an automatic passport into the team at Naturena.
Two Trains Of Thought
With that said, fans took to the Soccer Laduma Facebook account under the 'No Automatic Passport' For Chiefs Fan Favourite' post, and on the one end of the stick, said that Ngcobo should fight for his place, while the other's are mentioning that his situation could knock his confidence.
No Mickey Mouse Club
A supporter by the name of Abe Mokoka commented, "Ngcobo must fight for his place, Chiefs is not a mickey mouse club that you just in the team because of some nonsensical hype by the media and clueless fans."
Tumo Simelane said, "Yoooo... Killing players confidence. Even if a player can be a cow, he needs encouragement and this young boy really need motivation because he's good."
Have your say…
Do you think Ngcobo should be starting at Chiefs?
