Readers Voice: "Players Are To Blame"

Readers Voice: "Players Are To Blame"

After it being reported that Orlando Pirates lost R6million following their CAF Confederations Cup exit, a Bucs fan gave his honest opinion on who's to blame for their current situation.

What's the story?

Pirates recently faced the exit doors in the CAF Confederations Cup after coming short against Raja Casablanca in the quarterfinals. After a 1-1 result in the first leg, it was all to play for in the reverse fixture, however, the Moroccan giants thumped the Soweto giants with four goals without reply.

Missed Opportunity

Failure to reach the semi-final stage of the tournament meant that Pirates lost out on a R6 million cash injection, with the winners of the competition bagging R+/-17 273 000.

So far this season, Pirates have bagged R8-million by winning the MTN8 in December, while they have also added R400 000 for reaching the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

That being said, coach Josef Zinnbauer's immediate future has been one of the biggest topics in local football, especially among supporters on social media.

Who's To Blame

However, a fan by the name of Bhaka-bhaka Elimnyama, replied to a comment on a Soccer Laduma Facebook post under the 'R6m Blow For Pirates After Cup Exit' story and mentioned that players should hold themselves accountable.

The supporter commented, "Players should take the blame they're the ones who were playing. They forgot about their profiles, as a player you need to show your own brilliance in tough times, even against Celtics Lorch's brilliance worked for us very well."
