Readers Voice: Allow All Vaccinated People In The Stadiums

Readers Voice: Allow All Vaccinated People In The Stadiums

With SAFA confirming that a certain number of supporters will be allowed to watch Bafana Bafana's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia at the FNB Stadium, there has been a call to 'open the football' and have at least 30 000 people attend matches.

What's the story?

As mentioned, SAFA has now confirmed that 2000 fans will be allowed in the stadium when Bafana Bafana take on Ethiopia in their next FIFA World Cup qualifier.

With countries in Europe in advanced stages of their various COVID-19 vaccination programmes, football federations have now allowed teams to host full capacity stadiums.

Returning To The Stadium

In having fans back at the FNB for the first time since last year, SAFA will hope to use football to fast-track mass vaccinations in the country.

That being said, a local football fan by the name of Richard Pyungu took to the Soccer Laduma Facebook account under the 'Finally! Fans Return To The Stadium' post and mentioned that SAFA should allow vaccinated supporters to enjoy football again and increase the capacity to at least 30 000.

2000 Fans

Pyungu said, "2000 fans is nothing, they should allow all vaccinated supporters to go and enjoy the game.

"Some of us have the covid 19 vaccine certificate, let the country open the football please, we don't want 2000 at FNB, it is nothing at least 30000 or 25000 fans."

Have your say…

Should SAFA allow more spectators into the grounds, especially those who are vaccinated?
