SSU Youngsters Land In The UK For Trip Of A Lifetime

SuperSport United's DSTV Diski Challenge players and staff landed in the UK on Monday and immediately got a taste of football at another level by being at the Queens Park Rangers training grounds.

SuperSport, who are coached by club legend Thabo September, won the 2022/23 Diski Challenge season and earned themselves a trip to London, where they will play friendly matches against clubs from the UK.

They travelled to the hotel to have lunch, before going to train at Queens Park Rangers (QPR) to prepare for their first game, to be played on Tuesday afternoon against Bristol City's under-21 side. They will take on QPR's under-21 side on Saturday.

"We left South Africa during the day (on Sunday) and spent the whole night travelling and arrived at the hotel (in London) the following day. The first day is all about the tiredness. We had a session to get rid of those lactic acids and to get the players to feel themselves," September told the travelling media on Monday evening.

"The training was just for that because we have a game on Tuesday and we need them to be fresh. The training was good. We used the facilities at QPR which was a good motivation for everyone."

On Sunday, the young SuperSport boys will get an opportunity to watch Manchester City and Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.
