Chiefs Discover A Rare Gem To Learn From Dortley

Kaizer Chiefs scouts, recruiters, and the technical team are believed to be happy with another gem discovered in their DDC side, and the Siya crew finds out about promotion to the senior team.

Insiders at the club, privy to information, have indicated that Chiefs are set to promote 20-year-old Xolani Cossa after he impressed all parties involved in the promotion of youngsters from the junior sides.

The Siya sources noted that Cossa is a left-footed central defender who the technical team believes could be an understudy to Bafana Bafana player Rushwin Dortley.

"He is a rare kind of central defender. He is left footed but a central defender. You remember Tefu Mashamaite? That kind of defender. Very rare. That's why the technical team has agreed with the DDC coaches that he should be promoted to the first team," said the Siya source close to the club.

"He is like Rushwin Dortley. Very skilled and good both in the air and on the ground. They want him to be an under study to Dortley and he will be playing in most of the friendly games so that he can acclimatise with playing for the first team," the source added.

A second insider stated that the club is looking at other youngsters who they can promote and then loan out to gain game time and experience.

"Some of these youngsters will be promoted and then loaned out. They don't want to waste their talent by keeping them for a long time in the DDC while they are ready for the top league. So, since they can all not play at the same time they will loan some of them out. Like they did with Donay Jansen to SuperSport United. You will see more of them in the near future as a way of building a strong squad for the future," the second source stated.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of publishing. As Amakhosi continue to focus on developing young talent, the expected promotion of Cossa to the senior team represents a significant step forward.
