Magesi FC are believed to be eyeing retired former Bafana Bafana defender Thabo Nthethe for a role in their technical team, following the club’s recent appointment of John Maduka as head coach.
Having parted ways with veteran mentor Owen Da Gama after surviving relegation, Magesi are now restructuring their backroom staff as they prepare for another season in the top flight.

According to insiders, Nthethe has emerged as a candidate to bolster the technical setup under Maduka’s new leadership.
Currently serving as assistant coach at Casric Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Nthethe has been quietly developing his coaching credentials alongside head coach Joseph Mthombeni.
His work at the club has not gone unnoticed, and Magesi are understood to be considering him for a similar role as part of their reinforcements for the upcoming campaign.
“Nthethe’s name has come up in internal discussions. He’s someone who has experience, respect in the local game, and he’s been learning his craft in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. There’s belief that he can grow under a coach like Maduka in the top division,” a source close to the situation told the Siya crew.
A former stalwart at Bloemfontein Celtic and Mamelodi Sundowns during his playing days, Nthethe enjoyed a decorated career that included domestic league titles and CAF Champions League success.

His transition into coaching has been closely watched by those within football circles, especially given his calm leadership and understanding of the game from the backline.
Should the move materialise, it would see Nthethe return to the Betway Premiership environment, this time in a coaching capacity, and be part of a new-look Magesi setup determined to make an impression in their second season at the elite level.
Soccer Laduma contacted Magesi FC for comment but received no response by the time this report was published.
