Stellies To Rival Chiefs For New Striker?

Stellenbosch FC are believed to be interested in a striker who is reportedly on Kaizer Chiefs' radar, the Siya crew understands.

Siya sources have indicated that at the same time, Amakhosi have renewed their interest in the same Golden Arrows striker, Lungelo Nguse. The PSL clubs are looking at signing him in the next transfer window period, which is in January.

Sources close to both clubs and privy to information, have added that Chiefs are believed to have inquired about striker. This is because of the challenges in attracting other striker targets, Fiston Mayele and Michael Olunga.

"What I know is that Chiefs are finding it difficult to get their priority signing in as far as the strikers are concerned and since they badly need a striker in January, they are back in for Golden Arrows striker Lungelo Nguse. They wanted him in the previous transfer window but they also were looking at Fiston Mayele and they could not get both of them," said the Siya source.

"Then they looked at Kenyan striker Michael Olunga and it's difficult to get him as well so now they are back in for Nguse. It's looking good now as he is locally based and maybe the money wouldn't be as high as it is for Mayele or Olunga. That's the situation now," the source added.

However, a second insider stated that the stumbling block could be that Stellenbosch FC are also believed to be interested in the former University of Pretoria striker.

"The latest now is that Stellenbosch are also interested in him. That's where the money issues would resurface again and the highest bidder could get him. But because Chiefs were the first to have shown interest then maybe they could consider them first. But, you know, in football anything is possible," the second insider told the Siya crew.

The 25-year-old has played regularly for Arrows this season so far, continuing from where he left in the last campaign. This publication reached out to both Arrows and Stellenbosch for comment, but no response was received at the time of publishing this report.
