It still remains to be seen whether Chippa United will be able to hold on to goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali when the transfer window officially opens in July.
Rumours have been doing the rounds that the Nigerian international is wanted by several clubs in the DStv Premiership, but up to now there doesn't seem to have been any formal offers for his services.
The Siya crew has now been led to believe that an unnamed club from Saudi Arabia has made a "strong" enquiry about Nwabali and his availability – and it will be made clear to any suitor that he can be sold at the right price.
Reports have suggested Chippa could ask for double figures, potentially pricing him out of the South African market, but opening up doors abroad.
With his heroics for the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, where Nigeria reached the final – but lost to host Cote d'Ivoire – Nwabali has become hard to ignore and Chippa are resigned to losing him.
Soccer Laduma has previously reported an interest from Kaizer Chiefs as well as AmaZulu, and there could very well be more teams monitoring the situation locally. But with the suggested price tag of upwards of R10-million, the Chilli Boys are likely to hold out for an offer that meets their valuation overseas.
