Sithebe’s Days At Chiefs Numbered?

Sithebe’s Days At Chiefs Numbered?

It seems like the days of a top midfielder at Naturena are numbered and, according to Siya sources, Kaizer Chiefs could be willing to listen to offers.

Siyethemba Sithebe arrived at the club with a lot of promise having been frozen out for months by AmaZulu FC who were displeased by his pre-contract agreement with the Soweto giants, but the dreadlocked star appears to have failed to live up to the expectations.

Since the start of the season, the 30-year-old has not managed to appear in any of the side's matches in all competitions, with this publication informed by sources that he has fallen way down the pecking order that he might not see playing time anytime soon.

In fact, Siya sources have indicated that Amakhosi could either loan him out or they might be keen to listen to any offers for his services. However, there could be a silver lining for the former Usuthu anchorman if he can double his efforts and make a meaningful contribution, in which case he could be reprieved.

But according to Siya sources, unless Chiefs are convinced that he can add value to the brand going forward, he is likely to follow Kgaogelo Sekgota, who was given a free clearance. For Sithebe, the task might be a bridge too far when one considers that Venezuelan Edson Castillo has certainly raised the bar in that central midfield role and it will take a super-human effort to topple him from it having taken to his new surroundings like a duck to water.

However, Zakhele Lepasa over at rivals Orlando Pirates was deemed surplus to requirements, resulting in him being loaned out last season, but hard work has seen him retaining his position down Orlando East way, and now the ball is in Sithebe's court.

How patient should Chiefs be for Sithebe to prove himself at the club? Share your views in the comments section below!
