Word reaching the Siya crew is that one of Sekhukhune United's veteran defenders is set to be offloaded at the end of the season.
Indications from sources are that while Daniel Cardoso has served the club with distinction since joining from Kaizer Chiefs in 2022, it appears that when the 35-year-old's contract expires at the end of the current season, Babina Noko will not renew.
The man who started his professional career with the now-defunct Free State Stars is in the last four months of his contract at the side. At Amakhosi, he featured an impressive 185 times, scoring 12 goals in the process – impressive numbers for a defender.
It was during his time at Naturena that he even caught the attention of national selectors and played for Bafana Bafana, albeit only on three occasions. According to Siya sources, the club could be looking for younger options in his position, and the fact they have not yet tied him down to a new deal may suggest a parting of ways is on the cards.
The experienced defender, therefore, may be forced to look for a club to play for come the 2024/25 season, as it is believed he still believes he is a few more years in his legs to compete at the highest level.
