Orlando Pirates could be open to offering Richard Ofori in exchange for Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, the Siya crew has been told. Nwabali has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in the PSL following his top performances for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
Kaizer Chiefs has also been interested in the shot-stopper although sources have indicated that the Soweto giants were scared off by the R30 million price tag which the Chilli Boys have reportedly priced the 27-year-old at.
Having recently offered the Super Eagles number one a two-year contract extension, the Gqeberha-based outfit won't be willing to lose their prized asset cheaply.
With the club enjoying a good relationship with Pirates, sources have told the Siya crew that it is at the Houghton-based club that the keeper might sign if he has to leave Chippa for a local club.
"Pirates' interest in Stanley Nwabali is growing and there is a possibility of him signing there at the end of the season. It could be cash plus player deal. Should the deal happen, Ofori is a player he might be swapped with. But the player and his camp may also listen to overseas offers," said the source.
Pirates' current number one Sipho Chaine was signed from Chippa in 2022.
