Pirates Lead The Race For Van Rooyen?

The Siya crew has been led to believe that Orlando Pirates are leading the race for in demand Stellenbosch FC captain Deano Van Rooyen.

According to information received by the Siya crew, Van Rooyen is on the wanted list of a number of teams in the DStv Premiership.

He has been one of the standout performers for second-placed Stellies this season, leading the club to their first-ever topflight trophy in the Carling Knockout.

According to information received by the Siya crew, Van Rooyen does have a long-term contract in place with the Cape Winelands outfit; however, the club are resigned to losing their skipper and have already started seeking out possible replacements.

It's understood that Pirates, who have been struggling for a consistent right back, are seriously monitoring the situation and have made their intentions clear of signing the player for next season, as they believe he is someone who can get them back to challenging for a spot in either the CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup.

The Buccaneers are believed to be ready to meet the demands of the player while the player is also understood to be considering his best options, to ensure that he makes the right decision at this stage of his career. The likes of Sekhukhune and AmaZulu are understood to also be in the picture, but the Buccaneers are not likely to give up in their pursuit to win the race to sign the Idas Valley-born star.
