Azola Matrose has become the forgotten man at Orlando Pirates, but Siya sources have indicated there's no talks of a loan move for the young winger to get game-time elsewhere at this stage of the season.
The 20-year-old has permanently joined the Buccaneers after he was signed by the Soweto giants in July 2022 and then loaned back to Chippa United to continue his progress and growth.
It was expected the decision to not let the Chilli Boys hold on to him for the 2023/24 campaign suggested he would be part of coach Jose Riveiro's plans, but so far he has yet to make an official appearance.
The likes of Lesedi Kapinga, Karim Kimvuidi, Siphelo Baloni and Patrick Maswanganyi have already been given a chance by the Spanish mentor, but Matrose, along with goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi, is the odd one out.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, it is then expected the player's camp could enquire about his chances in the first team seeing as the lack of game-time means his career is stalling.
But only then can any movements be possible and can be explored – for now, the winger has to hope Riveiro hands him an opportunity in the coming weeks. Matrose was promoted to the Chippa senior side in 2021 and had managed an impressive total of 30 matches for the Gqeberha-based outfit until Pirates came knocking.
