Chiefs Closing In On A New Forward?

Now, insiders close to both the player and Chiefs have indicated that Thikazi's potential move to Naturena appears to be progressing.

A reliable Siya source provides insight on the situation regarding the remaining details required for the Royal AM player to move to Amakhosi.

"Yes, it's not the first time Chiefs have shown interest in him. But in the past things were not finalised but as the way things are going now and looking at Royal AM's situation, his move to Chiefs is possible. It could happen at the end of the season. Things are looking good and it could be good for the player as well," the Siya source stated.

A second insider noted that Thikazi has one year remaining on his contract with the KZN-based side, meaning Chiefs would need to purchase his contract to acquire him.

"There are some players at Royal AM whose contracts are coming to an end in June and they are reluctant to sign new contracts because of the current situation but with Mfundo (Thikazi) he is still contracted to Royal AM and Chiefs have to buy him if they are interested in him. But I don't think that will be a problem as I don't think he will cost too much," the second source revealed.

Thikazi is one of the longest-serving players under Shauwn MaMkhize, having been with the club since its Royal Eagles days in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The 25-year-old has played a few games this season before the club's operations were affected by curatorship and the suspension of their games by the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Soccer Laduma contacted his agent, Dr. Thabang Mncwabe, who was not aware of Chiefs' interest.

"They have not spoken to me. The player is contracted with Royal AM, if that is the case maybe they have spoken to MaMkhize," Mncwabe told Soccer Laduma.

Efforts to reach Chiefs for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publishing this story.
