There has been a wave of transfer activity taking place at Bloemfontein Celtic's Mangaung base and indications are that the club has managed to hold onto seven players, while there have been four exits already.
As reported by the Siya crew in edition 1228 of Soccer Laduma, Celtic have exercised the option on the contracts of midfield duo Lucky Baloyi and Given Mashikinya.
Baloyi, 29, and Mashikinya, 30, would see their contracts with the club come to an end on June 30 – but the club has managed to hold onto the players for two more seasons as confirmed to the crew by their agent, Jazzman Mahlakgane.
The midfield duo becomes the latest on a list of eight players to stay put at Celtic, following the likes of captain Ndumiso Mabena, Shadrack Khobedi and Jackson Mabokgwane.
Meanwhile, there have been a number of exits at the cash strapped outfit.
Despite being handed a two-window transfer ban by FIFA, Celtic are set to lose the services of experienced midfielder Ryan De Jongh, who is set to part ways with the club after three years, with Celtic opting not to exercise the option in his contract.
Another player believed to be on his way out is former SA youth international Siphelele Luthuli. The player who is on the wanted list of a number of clubs, has entered into the last six months of his contract and Celtic are yet to engage the player's camp.
As reported by the Siya crew, Neo Maema and Sifiso Ngobeni are set to join Mamelodi Sundowns, although the latter is expected to be loaned back to the club to continue his first-team development.
Meanwhile, the verdict is out on players like Sipho Chaine, Lantshene Phalane, and Tumelo Njoti whose contracts will come to an end on June 30.
It is yet to be seen whether Celtic will hold onto the trio, or whether they will have to make way for younger players who will be promoted from the club's reserve side.
