Siya sources have indicated that Cape Town City are believed to be close to concluding a deal for a Greek-born centre-back.
Sources have informed the Siya crew that former OFI Crete defender, Giannis Potouridis has been training under the watchful eye of Head Coach Benni McCarthy and his technical team in recent weeks.
Potouridis has plied his trade in Greece, Italy and Poland throughout his professional career, making 196 overall appearances.
Indications are that the Citizens have been impressed with what they have seen so far from the player and are looking to bring him on board at the club, as they are also desperate to bolster their defensive department, especially their centre-back position.
City have one of the leakiest defences in the Absa Premiership, having conceded 15 goals so far and it has been no secret that Head Coach McCarthy was eager to bring on board another centre-back, having been rotating between Taariq Fielies, Keanu Cupido and even Edmilson Dove in that position.
Now, it remains to be seen when City will make an announcement about the player, with the team only set to return to action on November 06 against Polokwane City.
