Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana is in line for a move to Saudi Arabia, but his proposed loan switch to Al-Hazem has not yet been finalised, the Siya crew can reveal.

The 25-year-old, who recently won a domestic treble in his debut season with Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis, has been strongly linked with a season-long loan deal in the Saudi Pro League.

While reports suggested the deal had already been agreed, a source close to the player clarified that discussions are still ongoing.

“It’s not yet agreed, we are still sorting out a few things. The player’s representative in Saudi, who is working on behalf of his South African agent, is handling the matter. As we speak, discussions are ongoing with all the parties, and it looks promising. What is certain is that he will be leaving Esperance, but the finer details are still being finalised,” the source explained.

Should the move be completed, Mokwana would join fellow South African Mohau Nkota in Saudi Arabia, after the winger recently sealed a transfer from Orlando Pirates to Al-Ettifaq.

Mokwana made a notable impact in his first season at Esperance, contributing 11 goal involvements in over 30 appearances in all competitions.
