Agent Clears Confusion On Mabotja’s Sekhukhune Move

POLOKWANE, SOUTH AFRICA - SEPTEMBER 16: Lebogang Mabotja of Sekhukhune United during the CAF Confederation Cup, 2nd preliminary round - leg 1 match between Sekhukhune United and Saint Eloi Lupopo at Peter Mokaba Stadium on September 16, 2023 in Polokwane, South Africa. With Lebogang Mabotja on course to cementing his place in the Sekhukhune United starting line-up after controversy nearly cost him the move, the player's representatives have set the record straight on what happened.

As he left Marumo Gallants at the end of last season, reports suggested the defender would be joining Royal AM. It was further reported that he might have signed with both Thwihli Thwahla and Babina Noko, although his representatives from Rush Hour Sports Management have been adamant that did not happen.

Speaking to the Siya crew, Mabotja's agent, Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi, says he is relieved that confusion is a thing of the past and that the left back is focused on claiming a regular place in coach Brandon Truter's side.

"As the player's representatives, we have always maintained that Lebo has signed with only one club and that club is Sekhukhune United, which is the team that he has been seen by everybody playing for this season," revealed Mulovhedzi.

"Honestly speaking, the boy is happy at his new club and is focused on doing well for the team. There have never been any doubts on where he was going to go because from the onset, we were happy with the offer that was made to him and we bought into the vision of the club," the intermediary added.

"It was very disappointing to read in the media that the boy signed with Royal AM, and I wish that people should have asked from us what was going on if they were unsure of anything. It is such reports that can be disruptive to a player's focus and damaging to his career. I am very close to people at Royal AM, including the boss 'MaMkhize' (Shauwn Mkhize) and the general manager Richard Makhoba, and they would have told me if they were interested in the player and that didn't happen," concluded Mulovhedzi.
