Former Cape Town City player Abbubaker Mobara has become the latest star to have his future under discussion in the fraternity, following Benni McCarthy's exit from his role as the head coach of AmaZulu, although the star is still under contract at the KwaZulu-Natal giants.
As reported by the Siya crew, AmaZulu are expected to make some changes to the squad at the end of the campaign, after the disappointment of not replicating the achievements of last season, which included qualifying for the CAF Champions League.
According to sources, some of the players who were signed under McCarthy could be affected by the planned changes at the Durban-based outfit, including former Kaizer Chiefs star Hendrick 'Pule' Ekstein and others.
Mobara joined the KZN side in January but struggled for regular game-time as McCarthy tried different combinations in attempt to get the results for the team in the DStv Premiership and Champions League.
However, with a new coach in charge in Brandon Truter, all the players are likely to get a chance to impress in the remaining matches of the season for the management to make final calls on their futures at the end of the campaign.
Mobara has made one league appearance for Usuthu so far and has played a further two matches in the Champions League.
However, with the player still under contract, after joining the club on a two-year deal, his future could likely depend on the management's decision about the technical team for the new season.
