Kurt Abrahams, who turned 23 in December, has been quietly progressing in Belgium over the last few years, and helped KVC Westerlo keep their Proximus League promotion hopes alive on Wednesday evening as he scored the winner against Lokeren to send them top of the league for the second half of the season.
Darren Keet's OH Leuven already secured their place in the promotion playoff by finishing top of the league in the first half of the season, but Westerlo's win this week made sure that they go into this weekend on top of the table as they seek to book a spot against Leuven in their attempt to earn promotion to the Pro League.
Abrahams has now directly contributed to 14 goals in the league, and is currently still in the race for the golden boot as he finds just one player – Thomas Henry on 13 goals – ahead of him in the scoring charts.
