The Coronavirus pandemic could end up securing promotion for one Bafana Bafana international as he waits to see where he'll be playing next season…
Darren Keet secured a move to OH Leuven in Belgian Proximus League at the start of this season, signing a contract at the club once his deal with Bidvest Wits expired in June of last year.
Now, having played his part in helping the team climb to the top of the table (they won the first half of the season), there appears to be a decision in the works that could see his team promoted without playing anymore games.
Reports in Belgium have suggested that league football will be brought to a halt completely, an eventuality that can be achieved due to the format of the league system there.
According to voetbalprimeur.be, "The return match between OH Leuven and Beerschot VA, with the promotion to 1A at stake, is almost certainly no longer being completed. Both clubs then promote directly to the highest class. Result: there will also be no relegation in 1A, so next season will be played with 18 clubs - including Beerschot, OH Leuven and Waasland-Beveren."
Meanwhile, Percy Tau's Club Brugge are set to be declared as champions of the Pro League, but there is no news on how things will work with the Croky Cup final just yet.
